Amazing Experience! King Salmon – we did not come home empty handed. Dean is an EXCEPTIONAL guide. He is passionate about what he does and it shows. His deckhand, Grant, was friendly and knowledgeable. I could not imagine fishing with any other company nor guide. Halibut – we limited out and took home about 40 pounds. Alan (captain) and Chase (deckhand) were definitely a hoot and we had a good time. The booking was easy and handled by Kristen who was kind and always available. She basically planned everything for us, so she made the trip that much better. We will be booking with King of the River next year.
Dean and his guide Grant are the best. Having never done fishing, both of these gentlemen were spot on and so helpful. I caught everything from fish, trees and other people lol and they never, not once, made me feel bad or embarassed about it. I finally caught on and I had so much fun. Dean is amazing and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable…Grant was such gem, very helpful and personable and helped make the day memorable, both gentlmen were easy going and a joy to spend the day fishing with. We caught our max and couldnt be any happier..We laughed over the small fish that would be caught, calling them cat treats lol and all the mistakes I was making but at the end of the trip both guys made the trip amazing. I highly reccomend Dean’s charter. 10 stars if I could.
Awesome experience. Went out with Jason who was super friendly, very detailed in making sure we were comfortable, and knew the Kenai like the back of his hand. We left with 5 cohos and the experience of a lifetime. Dean and Sherry were also awesome in answering our questions and making sure we were able to take our catch back with us to sunny California. A+!
Had a great experience with Dean. He and the deckhand were super knowledgeable and great company. Got us hooked up fast with 2 beautiful salmon. Will definitely be back and would recommend anyone visiting to fish with King of the River.
My wife and I took a half day trip with King of the River and we were fishing for Coho Salmon. It was one of the highlights of our trip, my wife enjoyed it so much that she said if had we done it earlier in our trip we probably would’ve tried to book a second day with them. You can tell Dean and Chad truly enjoy what they do and Dean’s knowledge of the Kenai River and salmon fishing is amazing. We were catching fish while a lot of others around us were not! Then at the end of the trip, he handled all the prepping and shipping of the fish for us. We would gladly recommend them to anyone.
I found myself thinking about this fishing charter while looking through some pictures of our trip in Alaska this past August. We had such an amazing time on the river. The guides know their stuff (we both limited out), are super friendly and have incredible backgrounds! They made our full day of fishing worthwhile. When we make it back to Alaska we will definitely be looking to do this river charter again. You really can’t go wrong!
